I joined my first crochet along (CAL) recently. We are using google groups as the forum for discussion and information exchange because the author of the CAL wants to keep the pattern secret so he can sell it at a later date.
Anyways, 270+ ppl signed up to partake. As with any online forum (library school, comments sections on webpages/blogs), there are always **annoying** ppl who feel the need to whine, comment on everything, etc.
These ppl are abusing LOL (laugh at loud). And it's not LOL.
Examples from postings:
- And I can't crochet lefthanded, so Im apparently stuck with my issues lol
- I realize to some crocheters there is no wrong side, right side of the work, for me there definitely is lol
- And everyones pictures appear to have the same issue, so I may redo it and see if I can get it to not make my brain hurt LOL
- ...trying to listen to audio while looking after an active toddler is a challenge lol
- Now just 44 more to go lol
- Life just keep getting in the way. lol
I just spent the past weekend reliving the summer of 1989. I was in the first group of girls that got to march with the boys in the band! Hard to believe that was 20 years ago. Got to see some guys from that time, relive some crushes, etc...
For some weird reason, the drum cadence relaxes me...I could listen to that forever. Maybe I should get it on tape or download it to my iPod (wonder if it is on iTunes),,,,
very cute
Anyways...I have come to like Toddlers and Tiaras and Little Miss Perfect. These are shows on TLC and We that depict little girls (and boys!!!!!!!!!) that are in pagents. Apparently there are different levels and degrees of pagents. THere are GLITZ pagents...where kids get all glammed up and pagents that are more natual.
In this particular episode, an adorable girl with beautiful red hair is competing. She's probably 5 or 6. She says she likes doing pagents because she gets to spend time with her mom, and that her mom is her BFF. Should a 5yo know "bff'? (no...she didnt say best friend forever...she said b-f-f!!!). (I suppose that is better than 'queef'...South Park did a whole episode on the word queef)
These kids get hair extensions, FAKE TEETH!!, spray tans...that is just wrong!
But I can't stop watching it...:-)
How many of my coworkers would know what 'stoichiometry' is off the top of their head? :)
20yrs after HS, I am still a science nerd.
He comes up to me while I am doing another department's job and asks me a reference question: "Do you have any books with pictures of sexy women's lingerie? "
So, being the good trained librarian that I am go, "Hmm...I'm not really sure. I know that we have books on how to sew and knit (which will maybe have pictures in them). He's like, "Can I watch you do the search in the catalog?" (because he can tell I am trying to blow his question off...) I guess...don't trust my librarian powers that you don't need access to wanking material...maybe I should have had some Playboy pulled for him.
Sure enough, I found him a couple of call numbers. I never did go w/ him to see if the books were on the shelf though.
I am tired of being LST+. I don't mind helping them with title page, but I am tired of that being all I do while on a floor. And the fact that they're not doing cleanup frustrates me. The place looks cluttered becuase we can only shelve so much...
The only excitiment I have for CGO is that patrons can look for their own damn books.
Stress is mounting. I am trying not to overdose on mochas before then.
- Mood:
anxious
I am looking forward to getting both my eyes numbed and then shot up with steroids. whoo hoo!! I have active inflammation in both eyes, with fluffy fresh snowballs....5-8 in each eye. At least I get to leave work early and go home afterwards to sit in the dark.
In other news, very frustrated about wearing a uniform. argh. i'm not a monkey!
- Line I found while putting together training for staff: "Old ice in the Arctic being replaced by younger, thinner ice." (This struck me as funny...still does 24 hours later. )
- Hot cop on a horse. (Maybe I should have learned to ride at school)
- Homeless ppl in D1 read the weirdest stuff. I'm curious as to what interest they have in the tax manual or the Black's Guide to Office Space.
I'm sitting in my chair watching Mystery Diagnosis. I enjoy a good episode of MD, especially when they talk about UVEITIS. This is at least the 4th episode I have seen that talks about uveitis. Whoo hoo!! Maybe with millions of americans watching MD, they can recognize the signs of uveitis or other serious eye problems and go see an OPHTHALMOLOGIST. See an eye doctor w/ an MD behind his name.
Part of the reason I like MD is because I am wondering if maybe I will one day be an episode of mystery diagnosis, or if it will help figure out what is wrong with me. Although I don't know if I will let a doctor touch me...especially since I have learned about some pretty gross and scary medical procedures from the show.
People, get your eyes checked.
Hubby is gone for the weekend playing his plastic krak. I went to see the Other Boleyn Girl w/ a friend. It is staying a pretty low key weekend. It is beautiful out so I am finding excuses to drive around with my sunroof ropen. I will probably go shopping tomorrow for awhile and continue blocking the grannies.
I went to the eye doctor this week. I had to see the fellow first....he always manages to pull some odd torture instrument out and abuse me. The most abuse I get from Dr. D is bright light and some impatience. But, good news is that I was clear (just a few inflammatory cells) despite the mysterious red eye.
I have gotten sick 2x in the last 3 weeks. This last time, I slept for 2 days, developed a hack, and still feel funky 4 days later. I hope I can make it through work tomorrow.
I had my first crochet class tonite. It is nice to get out of the house. A weird mix of people in the class. I have now developed a nice hack. argh.
My right eye is all red. Like blood red. It doesnt hurt, isnt weepy/watery/etc...and i'm not light sensitive. So, not sure if I have pink eye or if I am having an anterior uveitis attack. And on monday i have to be present and accounted for so that I can give the spiel to all the returnees in the dead daughter room. I want to go see the hottie eye doc...we'll see how it looks tomorrow.
My recliner is back in its propper home. We still have our x-mas decorations up, inlcuding the tree.
I gotta cut back on the Mystery Diagnosis. I got wigged out the other nite w/ one of the procedures.
I am not a hypochondriac, but I have been watching alot of Discovery health TV.
Anyways, my ears have been ringing on/off for the last three months. Google searches, database searches, and good old fashioned reference books haven't done much for me...until I looked at the Mayo Clinic Family Health Book... a good basic, but thorough explanation of health topics. Under the causes of tinnitus--cardiovascular disease (especially if ringing is in one ear, like mine seems to be) or an auditory tumor.
joy of joys. maybe the physical will find (or not) find somethings. Tinnitus can also be caused by large doses of caffine. Hmmm...maybe the 2 mocha/day habit is catching up with me.
- Apparently gold lame stilletoes are appropriate work attire.
- 6 inch worms fascinate cats.
- check the cheeze before you dump it on the pizza.
- Government websites don't read their email, even when you have a legitimate comment/complaint.
- Google can't answer all your medical questions
Reading through the patient consent form for the lx211study I had a couple of giggles. The information is written for morons.
Here are some brilliant examples:
1--(blood pressure) The study doctor or staff will check your blood pressure by putting a band around your arm. This will squeeze your arm for about a minute.
2--(pregnancy) If you are a woman and can have children, you will have a pregnancy test(s). The study doctor or staff will tell you if the test results are positive. A pregnancy test does not keep you from becoming pregnant.
3--(needles) Some problems you might have from a needle piercing your skin are: it may hurt, you may get a bruise, you may feel dizzy, you may get an infection.
still working out details about the study. it looks like i have to redo the "screening" visit. argh. she did this to me last time too. very frustrating. oh...and there is a TB outbreak in town. hope i dont have TB...i am coming down with something. all i want to do it curl up and sleep or crochet.
